FAQs
This year we are attending several trade fairs with our winery! You can find us at the Wein & Genuss in Linz, at the Innsbruck wine fair, at the Transgourmet PUR in Salzburg, and at the Vinum in Traun and Eferding. We are also at the Peuerbach wine fair.
And for all those who like to plan ahead: The next Kellergassenfest in Rohrendorf will take place as usual in 2026 on the last weekend in August.
More events may be added to our calendar at short notice - but we will of course keep you updated in good time. We look forward to your visit and many pleasant conversations over a good glass of wine!
Your Mittelbach family
Our winery is best known for its white wines - around 70% of our production is white wine. The remaining 30% is divided between fruity rosé wines and characterful red wines.
Due to the current climatic conditions, it is unfortunately difficult to predict whether we will be able to produce an ice wine every year. In 2024, it was simply too warm - the necessary sub-zero temperatures did not materialize.
But if the temperatures allow it, we will of course take advantage of the opportunity! In December 2023, we had a perfect cold spell with -10 °C - earlier than ever before! The result: an outstanding Grüner Veltliner ice wine, the best ice wine vintage we have ever had! A real highlight for all lovers of sweet quality wines.
And as you probably know: ice wine only gets better with age!
Even though the vines are dormant in winter, there is still a lot to do in our winery! Pruning is particularly important now. We cut back the old shoots so that the vines can sprout again with full force in the spring. This ensures healthy vines, a balanced yield and ultimately the quality of the wines.
We also use the winter time to prepare our wines in the cellar as best as possible for the current vintage.
Winter may seem quieter – but for us the wheel keeps turning even in the cold season!
We mainly use classic aging in steel tanks to preserve the freshness, fruitiness and varietal characteristics of our wines. This is how our dominant varieties such as Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Muscat develop their clear, elegant structure - typical of the Krems Valley.
An exception is our Chardonnay 2023, which has been aged in barriques for around 8 months. This gives it a special depth, fine roasted aromas and a wonderfully creamy texture.
